..but unofficially we are back. And with bigger bellies. In my absence Japan has been getting a kicking on the international stage. First with all those dodgy Toyota cars and then their defeat of, along with that other sushi-mad nation, Libya, the proposed tuna fishing ban.
Before everyone forgets about their Toyota woes and about tuna fish, most likely because there will be none left by the middle of September - tuna that is - I would just like to share the Tomomster`s view on the latter.
Like most Japanese she rightly saw the ban as a persecution of the Japanese way of life. I think she nicely summed up what should happen and in doing so she could well be the next UN person-to-call-to-fix-things.
The Tomomster:"Well if other countries are so worried about the tuna fish why don`t they stop eating it? Don`t they know we love tuna?"
This post is for you Conor who asked wtf? had happened to richandcreamy.
Rather than do any research on the matter, I feel I should speak up. I think there are several species of tuna at hand here. The ban is directed to an endangered species but not the kind you and I might get on our roll in the UK or even glorious America.
The overfished species however is more of a luxury (and I think an illegal one at that) in our stomping grounds. I think it might be similar to the whale blubber issue for instance. Again, I could look this up but am much too comfortable pretending I know things of which I know nothing.
